Operating principles

What goes into my work.

Research over assumption.

Every screen starts with a real user problem. Interviews, support tickets, session replays. No designing in a vacuum.

Ship the boring parts.

Empty states, error states, edge cases, design systems. The unglamorous parts are where the product actually lives.

Move the metric.

Activation, retention, conversion. If the design does not move a number, it is decoration. Outcomes over aesthetics.

Engineers in the room.

Best designs are co-authored. I pair with engineering from kickoff so what ships matches what was specced.

Beyond the work, I read and share knowledge through presentations. Two that shaped how I think about negotiation and shipping under pressure.

The session on User Experience kept me engaged throughout. I was riveted to find all the aspects that are part of UX, especially those related to product management. There were so many different components to cover, but each was well explained with great visuals and examples.
